Program:
The Mekong Delta, often known as "the rice bowl of Vietnam'', is the country's most fertile area and the primary producer of both rice and tropical fruit. You’ll begin by joining your guide and private vehicle to drive south to the riverfront town of My Tho. Once there you’ll visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, the most famous Buddhist monument in town, with many beautiful statues and sculptures decorating the interior. The outside garden is dominated by imposing yet delightful statues of the Happy Buddha, Guanyin and the Reclining Sakyamuni.
After a short transfer, you’ll find yourself at the tourist wharf on the bank of the My Tho River, one of the nine branches of the Mekong River in the Delta. You’ll board the motorboat crossing over to Thoi Son island where you’ll disembark for a walking tour through the lush, green orchards and the thriving cottage industries there. There’s ample opportunity to see and experience for yourself how the locals live there and you’ll even be privy to a traditional musical performance at the end. Next, you’ll hop on a wooden sampan to have a pleasant, scenic ride through the endless, narrow palm-shaded canals in the hazy afternoon sun. At the bank you’ll be picked up and then transported back to the city.
