Program:
Ho Chi Minh City is the nation's largest city and commercial hub. With its bustling streets, innumerable street sellers, cyclos, food booths, stores, and markets it’s a truly dynamic city with tremendous, overflowing energy. You’ll start from your hotel with your private guide and vehicle and you’ll begin the tour with a visit to the city's well-known and historic sites including the War Museum. The museum boasts a variety of leftover tanks, airplanes, artillery and small arms on showcase making the War Museum an interesting start to your tour..
After a short transfer to a nearby street you’ll soon find yourself in front of the Reunification Hall, an important landmark of Vietnam’s modern history. You’ll get to walk through the different floors to see the building highlights including the main hall where a conference took place in 1976 to reunify the country, the underground tunnels and the emergency commanding quarters.
Next is a short walk through a local park to reach the Cathedral Square where you’ll see two significant pieces of French architecture built around the end of the 19th century: the Notre Dame Basilica and the Central Post Office building. Today both buildings have become a favorite backdrop for wedding photography.
The rest of the afternoon is to discover the local arts and crafts. You’ll visit the Fine Art Museum to gain an insight into the development of Vietnamese painting and sculpture. You’ll also visit Thien Hau Temple, a meeting hall of a Chinese immigrant congregation, which showcases elaborate ceramic works on the roof ridges. To continue, visit the lacquerware center where you can see the entire process of lacquer working to make a piece of art.
