The tour begins with you with your driver and local guide ushering you out of the city center and west to the countryside of the former Ha Tay province. First stop, Tay Phuong Pagoda. In addition to being one of the oldest pagodas in the entire country, the first bricks were laid around the 7th or 8th centuries, it has been designated as a Special National Vestige thanks to its magnificent traditional architecture and well preserved artworks, particularly the life-like sculptures of the 18 Buddhist Arhats.

The tour marches on with a short drive to the old village of Duong Lam. This once forgotten rural village is now a breathtaking complex and boasts being a UNESCO Heritage Site thanks to its ancient, traditional architecture used for both everyday routines and religious functions. The village is a superb place to saunter around to take in the scenes of an ancient, bygone era like the ornamental rooflines and worn brick lanes. If you’re not much for ambling around, well then have a nice sit on a stool and order your favorite drink at a local cafe while you mingle with the grinning local yokels. When you’ve finished your refreshments, your driver is waiting to whisk you away and back to your hotel.
