Day 1 - Arrive in Hanoi (Dinner included)

You’ll arrive in Hanoi at Noi Bai Airport and meet your local guide and driver then transfer to the city center. Soon you’ll be in front of the illustrious Sword Lake. On a little island within the lake sits Ngoc Son Temple and is connected to the bank by the The Huc Bridge conspicuously painted in red. Ngoc Son Temple was built in honor of the eminent military leader and tactician, Tran Hung Dao. After that, why not mosey on over to the Old Quarter nearby and explore the buzzing sights and sounds and smells of the shophouses, food stalls and friendly pubs. After that you’ll arrive at the water puppet theater to see the scintillating yet quaint performance of this ancient and uniquely Vietnamese art form that’s been performed since the 11th century. After this, you’ll spend one night in Hanoi.

Day 2 - Hanoi (Breakfast & Lunch Included)

Your second day will be dedicated to a comprehensive sightseeing tour of Hanoi, focusing on its most significant attractions. The tour begins at Ba Dinh Square, a site of profound historical importance where Ho Chi Minh proclaimed Vietnam’s independence after centuries of monarchy. Surrounding Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, located at the rear of the square, you’ll have ample opportunities for photography. From here, a leisurely stroll through the adjacent Presidential Palace gardens is highly recommended. As you wander, you’ll encounter charming scenes such as a large, picturesque fish pond, the wooden stilt house where Ho Chi Minh spent his final years, and the concrete house where he passed away. Before leaving, be sure to visit the renowned One-Pillar Pagoda, designed in the likeness of Guanyin, the goddess of mercy and compassion in Chinese mythology.

Next, you’ll visit Quan Thanh Temple, a traditional Taoist temple dedicated to Hanoi’s divine protector, Huyen Thien Tran Vu. Inside, on the main altar, stands a massive bronze statue of Huyen Thien Tran Vu, towering at 4 meters high and weighing an impressive 4 tons. This statue, a masterpiece of 17th-century bronze craftsmanship, is officially recognized as a national treasure. As you continue your walk along the lakeside, you’ll pass the John McCain Memorial, commemorating the former U.S. Senator and Navy pilot who was famously shot down over Hanoi during the Vietnam War in 1967.

After lunch, the tour resumes with a visit to the Temple of Literature and the attached Noble Academy, showcasing beautifully restored architecture that preserves the legacy of Vietnam’s imperial education. A highlight of this complex is the collection of stone stelae, which bear the names of successful mandarin examinees over many centuries. The final stop of the day will be the Museum of Vietnamese Women, offering a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam’s history and culture through the experiences of its resilient and determined women, especially during the wartime era.

Day 3 - Hanoi - Ninh Binh (Breakfast & Lunch)

The following day, you’ll leave Hanoi and embark on a scenic road trip to Ninh Binh, a region known for its rolling hills, submerged grasslands, and cinematic landscapes—you may even hear tales of a giant monkey called King Kong! Upon arrival at the Trang An tourist complex, you’ll trade your car for a spot on a hand-paddled boat to explore the stunning environment within this UNESCO-protected area. The boat trip takes you through serene waterways surrounded by karst formations, lagoons, and expansive, gently swaying rice fields.

During the boat tour, you’ll disembark to visit the temples of King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, situated on the site of their 10th-century capital, Hoa Lu. Although the temples were constructed during the Le Dynasty in the 15th century, you can also visit the nearby Nhat Tru Pagoda, where a stone sutra pillar dating back to the era of these ancient kings still stands.

Day 4 - Ninh Binh - Halong (Breakfast & Lunch & Dinner)

Traveling by road from Ninh Binh to Halong, your first stop upon arrival is the luxurious and modern Tuan Chau Harbor, where your cruise vessel awaits. Around noon, the ship will gently depart and briefly anchor offshore as lunch is served. As you enjoy a hearty meal aboard, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the surrounding natural beauty of the bay at a leisurely pace.

After lunch, the cruise will continue, bringing you to the impressive Sung Sot Cave, the largest cave in the bay area. Inside, you’ll be amazed by the vast interior, adorned with magnificent stalactites and other striking speleothems. Once you’ve explored the cave, you’ll reboard the ship for a quick stop at the serene Titov Island, where you can relax and unwind on the beach. As the day comes to a close, the ship will anchor in a tranquil lagoon, away from other vessels, ensuring peace and quiet. Later in the evening, enjoy spectacular onboard entertainment and refreshments, marking the end of the first day of your tour.

Day 5 - Halong - Hanoi (Breakfast & Lunch)

The second day begins with a delicious breakfast and strong morning coffee, allowing you to soak in the otherworldly scenery around you. The vessel will then continue its leisurely passage through the stunning karst formations and azure waters as it makes its way back to shore. By noon, the ship will dock, and you’ll disembark for your road transfer back to the airport for your onward flight.
