Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi
Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, your local guide and chauffeur will greet you and escort you to your city-center hotel. After settling in, immerse yourself in the energy of the capital with a guided walking tour through the bustling Old Quarter. Famed for its “36 Streets,” this vibrant labyrinth was historically organized by artisan guilds. It offers the perfect introduction to Hanoi’s daily life, colonial heritage, and world-renowned street food culture.
Day 2: Hanoi To Dong Hoi (B/night train)
Begin your day at the Ho Chi Minh Complex to view the historic Mausoleum. Next, explore wartime remnants at Huu Tiep Lake to see the submerged B-52 wreckage, followed by the B-52 Victory Museum and the Lang artillery defense point. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to discover the country’s diverse cultures. Afterward, return to your hotel to enjoy a relaxing day-use room and some free time. Following an early dinner, your chauffeur will transfer you to the station to board the overnight sleeper train heading south to Dong Hoi.
Day 3: Dong Hoi (B)
Wake up to the changing landscapes of central Vietnam as the train pulls into Dong Hoi Railway Station. After checking in to a local spot to freshen up and enjoy a hearty breakfast, journey onward to the UNESCO-listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Spend your afternoon marveling at the spectacular, otherworldly stalactites and stalagmites inside the breathtaking Paradise Cave. Return to the coast later this evening.
Day 4: The DMZ: Vinh Moc To Khe Sanh
Explore the iconic historic defense lines of the DMZ in depth today. Begin at the remarkable underground network of the Vinh Moc Tunnels and stop by the scenic shores of Cua Tung Beach. Next, cross the 17th Parallel at the historic Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River, before visiting the Doc Mieu Base along the famous McNamara electronic line. From there, journey to the Provisional Revolutionary Government Headquarters in Cam Lo. Head further west into the mountains to view the strategic outpost of the Rockpile. Continue your expedition passing the historic battlefield site of Dak To en route. Upon arriving in Kon Tum on the banks of the Dakbla River, discover a vibrant hub of indigenous cultures.
