Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi

Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, your local guide and chauffeur will greet you and escort you to your city-center hotel. After settling in, immerse yourself in the energy of the capital with a guided walking tour through the bustling Old Quarter. Famed for its “36 Streets,” this vibrant labyrinth was historically organized by artisan guilds. It offers the perfect introduction to Hanoi’s daily life, colonial heritage, and world-renowned street food culture.

Day 2: Hanoi To Dong Hoi (B/night train)

Begin your day at the Ho Chi Minh Complex to view the historic Mausoleum. Next, explore wartime remnants at Huu Tiep Lake to see the submerged B-52 wreckage, followed by the B-52 Victory Museum and the Lang artillery defense point. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to discover the country’s diverse cultures. Afterward, return to your hotel to enjoy a relaxing day-use room and some free time. Following an early dinner, your chauffeur will transfer you to the station to board the overnight sleeper train heading south to Dong Hoi. 

Day 3: Dong Hoi (B)

Wake up to the changing landscapes of central Vietnam as the train pulls into Dong Hoi Railway Station. After checking in to a local spot to freshen up and enjoy a hearty breakfast, journey onward to the UNESCO-listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Spend your afternoon marveling at the spectacular, otherworldly stalactites and stalagmites inside the breathtaking Paradise Cave. Return to the coast later this evening.

Day 4: The DMZ: Vinh Moc To Khe Sanh

Explore the iconic historic defense lines of the DMZ in depth today. Begin at the remarkable underground network of the Vinh Moc Tunnels and stop by the scenic shores of Cua Tung Beach. Next, cross the 17th Parallel at the historic Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River, before visiting the Doc Mieu Base along the famous McNamara electronic line. From there, journey to the Provisional Revolutionary Government Headquarters in Cam Lo. Head further west into the mountains to view the strategic outpost of the Rockpile. Conclude your historical expedition with visits to the Ta Con Airfield and the Lang Vei Monument, both sites of fierce combat during the 1968 Tet Offensive.

Day 5: Khe Sanh - A Luoi - Prao (B)

Depart Khe Sanh and head south along National Route 14 via the historic Dakrong Bridge. Spend the morning exploring old battlefields and taking in the dramatic mountain landscapes surrounding the infamous Hamburger Hill. Journey through the rugged terrain of A Luoi and A Roang, following the spine of the Truong Son mountains. Arrive in the remote outpost of Prao by late afternoon to relax.

Day 6: Prao To Kon Tum (B)

Embark on a spectacular scenic drive south through the Central Highlands. Travel via Thanh My toward the remote outposts of Kham Duc and Ngoc Hoi—regions famed for their strategic wartime airfields and breathtaking mountain passes. Continue your expedition passing the historic battlefield site of Dak To en route. Upon arriving in Kon Tum on the banks of the Dakbla River, discover a vibrant hub of indigenous cultures. Visit a traditional Bahnar village to admire their towering wooden communal Rong houses built on stilts, and stop to marvel at the beautiful, century-old Wooden Church of St. Mary.

Day 7: Kon Tum To Buon Ma Thuot (B)

Journey south toward Buon Ma Thuot, the undisputed coffee capital of Vietnam. En route, break up the drive in Pleiku with a refreshing coffee stop amid the scenic tea hills flanking the emerald waters of T’nung Lake, a breathtaking flooded volcanic crater. Continuing south, take a short historical detour to visit the memorial site of the strategic Pleime Combat Base. Back on National Route 14, breeze down to Buon Ma Thuot to unwind with a cup of world-class local brew. In the evening, wander through the serene lanes of Ako Dhong Village to admire traditional Ede longhouses and sample the highlands’ superb local culinary traditions.

Day 8: Buon Ma Thuot (B)

Spend an unforgettable day diving deep into the distinct cultures, spirituality, and local flavors of the Highlands. Begin your morning at the Museum of Ethnic Minorities to understand the rich heritage of the indigenous Ede and M’nong people, followed by a sensory journey through the avant-garde World Coffee Museum. Next, visit the striking Khai Doan Pagoda, famed for its elaborate wooden architecture blending Hue court styling with local stilt-house design. From there, embark on an excursion to marvel at the thunderous beauty of Dray Nur Waterfall, one of the region’s most iconic natural wonders, before enjoying free time around the vibrant local market.

Day 9: Buon Ma Thuot To Saigon (B)

Board a morning flight from Buon Ma Thuot to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, bypass the urban sprawl and head straight into the countryside to explore the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, an immense, strategic subterranean labyrinth used by the Viet Cong during the war. After discovering this underground network, return to the city center for a foundational afternoon historical tour. Step back into 1975 at the iconic Reunification Palace, then stroll through the historic Cathedral Square to admire the elegant, French-colonial architecture of the Central Post Office. Conclude your day at the adjacent Book Street, a leafy pedestrian hub for the city’s intellectual youth.

Day 10: Saigon (B)

Embark on a classic morning city tour of Saigon’s most iconic landmarks. Step back into 1975 at the iconic Reunification Palace, then stroll through the historic Cathedral Square to admire the elegant, French-colonial architecture of the Central Post Office. Have a coffee break at the adjacent Book Street, a leafy pedestrian hub for the city’s intellectual youth. Continue your morning hunting for unique souvenirs and local snacks at the bustling Ben Thanh Market. The afternoon is completely yours to enjoy at leisure. Walk down historic Dong Khoi Street, relax at a trendy sidewalk café, or choose to arrange an optional evening motorbike tour to sample the city’s incredible street food scene.

Day 11: Departure (B)
