Day 1: Hanoi To Mai Chau
Depart Hanoi for Mai Chau. En route, stop at a Muong ethnic village in Hoa Binh for a glimpse into the local culture. Continue the journey, pausing to admire breathtaking mountain scenery along the way. After arriving in Mai Chau, enjoy a delicious lunch in town before traveling to Lac Village, a White Thai ethnic village. Check into a traditional stilt house and settle in. The rest of the afternoon is for a leisurely walk around the surrounding villages, soaking in the serene environment and observing local life. Evening, experience the warm hospitality of the White Thai community with an evening cultural exchange after dinner, where you can learn about their customs and traditions.
Day 2: Mai Chau To Son La (B)
Depart Mai Chau for the scenic Moc Chau plateau. Your first stop is the iconic Heart-Shaped Tea Hill, wandering through vibrant, rolling green terraces. Next, witness the refreshing beauty of Dai Yem Waterfalls cascading down the sheer cliffs. For a thrilling highlight, walk across the spectacular Bach Long Glass Bridge, suspended high above a dramatic valley. Continue your journey along Highway 6 toward Son La. Visit Son La Prison, a French-built colonial prison used to detain and isolate Vietnamese political revolutionaries under harsh conditions. Wrap up the day checking into Son La City for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 3: Son La To Dien Bien Phu (B)
Depart Son La, traveling along winding roads over the scenic Pha Din Pass for breathtaking mountain views. Arrive in Dien Bien Phu, the historic site of the decisive 1954 battle. After checking into your hotel, explore the area on foot. Visit the Dien Bien Phu Museum to marvel at its crown jewel: a breathtaking, 360-degree interactive panorama painting that dramatically brings the 56-day siege to life. Next, step onto the historic A1 Hill battlefield to see the massive crater left by a hidden 960-kilogram Vietnamese TNT explosion that broke the French defense line. Day 4: Dien Bien Phu To Sapa (B)
Set out on a full-day journey through some of Vietnam’s most remote and mountainous regions. Although the roads can be challenging, the journey is rewarded with stunning landscapes of terraced fields and picturesque hill villages. Drive up along mountain roads to reach the peak area of the famous O Qui Ho Pass. Here visit the viewpoint complex with easy hike around for scenic views. Continue to Sapa, a hill station by the French in the early 20th century at the elevation of 1500 meter above the sea. The evening is to explore this charming town with bustling streets and ethnic vendors selling traditional textiles and handicrafts.
Day 5: Sapa (B)
The majestic Phan Si Pan Mountain Range, home to Vietnam’s tallest peak, creates a breathtaking alpine backdrop around Sapa. Take a train ride across the magnificent scenery of Muong Hoa valley before embarking the cable to explore the peak complex of Fansipan. In the afternoon, venture off the beaten path for a scenic walk through the verdant valley of Muong Hoa. Along the way, pass through charming villages where you can observe local life as villagers engage in traditional activities such as logging, herding buffalo, and working in the fields. Day 6: Sapa To Hanoi (B)
The morning is at leisure to relax or have the last visit in Sapa strolling around the central streets and the market at your own pace. Depart Sapa, winding down the majestic mountain roads toward Lao Cai. From there, transition onto the smooth modern expressway for a swift, comfortable drive back to Hanoi.
