Nha Trang travel guide: why the city sells itself
Unlike Vietnam’s resort islands, Nha Trang is a real city on a real beach: a six-kilometre promenade backed by restaurants, markets, spas and nightlife. Clients get urban energy and beach time in one stay, hotel stock runs from city-centre four-stars to full luxury on the Bai Dai strip, and prices remain noticeably below Phuket for a comparable product. Add year-round flight access through Cam Ranh International Airport, and it is one of the easiest beach pitches in Asia right now.
Which beach for which client
- Tran Phu Beach — the city beach along the promenade. First-timers, couples and anyone who wants restaurants and nightlife within walking distance.
- Bai Dai (Long Beach) — the resort strip near the airport, home to international brands such as Mövenpick, Radisson Blu and Wyndham. Honeymooners, luxury clients and families who want quiet.
- Doc Let Beach — white sand and shallow water an hour north. Slow-travel clients and repeat visitors escaping the crowds.
- The islands — Hon Tam, Hon Mun and the bay islets, best sold as day trips with snorkelling, parasailing and seafood lunches.

Five experiences that fill an itinerary
- Po Nagar Cham Towers — an active temple complex from the 7th century overlooking the Cai River; the city’s cultural anchor.
- Thap Ba mud baths — hot mineral springs and mud soaking make an easy half-day wellness block, a firm favourite with Russian guests.
- Snorkelling at Hon Mun — Vietnam’s first marine protected area, with the country’s most reliable visibility for first-time snorkellers and divers.
- VinWonders on Hon Tre island — theme park, aquarium and cable car over the bay; the default family day.
- Food, markets and nightlife — from seafood dinners at the night market to rooftop bars above the promenade. Our half-day city tour and full-day island tour cover the essentials ready-packaged.
When to send clients — an honest calendar
Nha Trang’s dry season runs roughly January to September, with the most reliable sun from February to May — and, usefully for European agencies, the July–August school holidays fall inside it. The wet months are October to mid-December, when short heavy downpours and a choppy sea are common. Winter stays warm at 24–28°C and December trips usually work out, but for guaranteed December sun, Phu Quoc remains the safer pick — our Vietnam winter weather guide maps the regions month by month.
| AGENT INSIGHTSell the combination, not the standalone. Nha Trang performs best as the beach finale of a route: Saigon and the Mekong plus Nha Trang, or the classic hill-and-coast pairing with Da Lat. Domestic flights from Ho Chi Minh City take about an hour.Entry is simple: many European passports now get 45 days visa-free, Russian clients the same, and a 90-day multiple-entry e-visa covers everyone else. For winter charters from Russia and the CIS, secure allocations early — last season’s 30-plus weekly flights filled fast. |

Getting there and around
Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) sits about 35 kilometres south of the city — a 40-minute transfer, and barely 10 minutes if clients stay on Bai Dai. More than 30 direct flights a week arrive from Russian cities, Korean and Chinese routes are dense, and European clients connect through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi with a one-hour domestic hop. For rail romantics, the overnight train from Saigon makes a memorable arrival, and new expressway sections keep shortening the drive.
The bottom line
Bookmark this Nha Trang travel guide before you build your next European or Russian beach programme.
Recognition, access and value rarely line up this well: a record Russian season, top-3 European search interest and an airport 40 minutes from the sand. Agents who add Nha Trang to their Vietnam programmes now will be selling a destination their clients are already searching for.
