Vietnam Tour and Beach 2027: How to Combine Two or Three Weeks of Touring with Proper Beach Time

Quick answer

A Vietnam tour and beach trip works best north to south, with the beach at the end. For two weeks, our 12-day Vietnam Beach Escape covers Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, Saigon and the Mekong Delta and includes six nights by the sea (three near Da Nang, three in Mui Ne). For three weeks, add the four-day Mui Ne Beach Escape to the 17-day Vietnam Insider Journey, or stretch the Mui Ne stay of the 12-day route. February to April 2027 is the window when every stop on these routes is usually dry.

A Vietnam tour and beach holiday is one of the most common requests from our partners in Germany, Austria and Switzerland: ten days of sights, then a week of doing very little. It sounds simple. In practice, Vietnam stretches more than 1,600 km from north to south and its regions have different rainy seasons, so the order of the stops and the month of travel decide whether the beach days are sunny or not. Below are three combinations built from programmes VietOne already runs, with the months that suit each one.

Why the beach goes at the end of a Vietnam tour and beach trip

Three reasons. First, the long-haul flights: from Frankfurt or Munich, Vietnam Airlines flies non-stop to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, so clients can land in the north and fly home from the south without backtracking. Second, the weather: in the dry months the south coast around Mui Ne is the most reliable beach in the country. Third, the body clock: on a Vietnam tour and beach itinerary, rest works better as the reward than the warm-up. Clients who start with the cities use their jet-lag energy on sightseeing and arrive at the sea when they actually want to stop.

Combo 1: two weeks with the 12-day Vietnam Beach Escape

The Vietnam Beach Escape (12 Days) is the ready-made version of a Vietnam tour and beach trip. It starts with two days in Hanoi (Old Quarter, Temple of Literature, the Ethnology Museum, a water puppet show), then a night on a wooden junk in Ha Long Bay. A flight takes clients to Da Nang, where they stay three nights at a beach resort, with a guided day at the Marble Mountains, a basket-boat ride in the nypa palm forest and a walk through Hoi An Old Town, plus one free day.

The second half is in the south: Cu Chi Tunnels and colonial Saigon, a Mekong day in Ben Tre with boats, a bike ride and lunch at a local home, then the drive to the coast via the cable car up Ta Cu Mountain. The last three nights are in Mui Ne, with two completely free days. Add the overnight flight from Germany and this Vietnam tour and beach combination fills two weeks door to door.

Combo 2: three weeks with the Insider Journey plus Mui Ne

For clients who want more depth, the Vietnam Insider Journey (17 Days) goes from Hanoi into the mountains at Mai Chau, through Cuc Phuong and Ninh Binh, to Ha Long, Hue, Hoi An and My Son, and ends in Saigon after a night in Can Tho. Instead of flying home on day 17, clients continue to the coast with the Mui Ne Beach Escape (4 Days): Ta Cu Mountain on the way, a sunrise jeep ride on the White Sand Dunes, a free day and three nights by the sea. That is 20 days in Vietnam, or a three-week Vietnam tour and beach holiday once the flights are counted.

Our honest walkthrough of the touring part is in the 15-day Vietnam itinerary article.

Combo 3: three weeks with more beach than touring

Some clients want a Vietnam tour and beach trip with the opposite ratio. Keep the 12-day Beach Escape and extend the stay in Mui Ne or Phan Thiet by a week. The hotel stays the same, there is no extra transfer, and the touring part is already done when the beach week starts. Clients who prefer an island can swap the extension for Phu Quoc; we do not publish a Phu Quoc package, so we quote it on request.

When to book a Vietnam tour and beach trip in 2027

For a Vietnam tour and beach route, the month matters more than the hotel. The figures below are long-term averages from Vietnam’s national building-climate standard, QCVN 02:2022/BXD. They describe typical years, not forecasts.

  • December and January. Hanoi is cool, with average January highs of about 20 °C. Da Nang still averages 19 rain days in December and 12 in January, so keep the beach days in the south: Phan Thiet, the station for Mui Ne, averages fewer than one rain day in January, and Vietnam’s official tourism site lists November to April as the best time for this coast.
  • February to April. The sweet spot. Da Nang drops to about five rain days a month and Mui Ne stays dry. Tet falls on Saturday 6 February 2027; transport and hotels are full around it, so book early or plan around that week. Easter (28 March 2027) sits inside this window, which helps families.
  • May to August. The south is in its rainy season (Phan Thiet averages 13 to 19 rain days a month, mostly short showers), while the central coast is dry and hot, with June highs around 34 °C in Da Nang. Put the beach days in Da Nang or Hoi An instead of Mui Ne.
  • September to November. Avoid beach days on the central coast: Da Nang averages 628 mm of rain in October. The north is pleasant in October and November, and the south dries out from December.

Agent Insight

For every Vietnam tour and beach booking, book the long-haul flights open-jaw: into Hanoi, out of Ho Chi Minh City. From Frankfurt both cities have non-stop Vietnam Airlines flights, and Munich has both as well. Clients from Vienna or Zurich connect via Frankfurt, Munich or a Gulf hub. The 12-day Beach Escape ends with a transfer from Phan Thiet to Saigon airport, so an evening departure fits.

FAQ

How many beach days does a two-week Vietnam tour and beach trip give?

On the 12-day Vietnam Beach Escape, six nights are at beach resorts: three near Da Nang (one free day) and three in Mui Ne (two free days).

What is the best month for a Vietnam tour and beach holiday in 2027?

February to April. Hanoi is mild, the central coast has dried out and Mui Ne is in its dry season. Avoid the week around Tet (6 February 2027) unless you book well ahead.

Can the beach be at the start instead?

Yes, but we rarely recommend it for a Vietnam tour and beach trip. Clients relax better after the touring part, and the open-jaw flights work best north to south. Combinations for other routes are in our 7 itineraries for 2027.
